What People Are Saying:

“Cheryl is a dedicated, respectable, and genuinely caring piano teacher.

At the students’ piano recital which is held twice a year, one can see Cheryl’s amazing ability to teach a wide range of students, from the very talented and skillful piano students to the beginners and those with physical needs, like my son.  She tailors each student’s lessons based on their skills, talent, learning abilities, and physical needs.  She enables every student to celebrate their talent and achievements with families and friends which make the students to feel proud of their accomplishments.

Cheryl not only teaches my son how to play the piano, but provides him one of the most valuable gifts in life which is to nurture his self-esteem and confidence.  Cheryl is a true gem! We are very fortunate to have found her as a piano teacher for our son.”

— H. Nguyen, Kanata

“We first met Cheryl in 2004 when our oldest boy was just 8. He and his younger siblings have all had Cheryl as a teacher and loved her. As a RCM Grade 10 graduate, I coached the kids in their early years but it was Cheryl who inspired and nurtured their love of music. Aside from a 3 year hiatus when we lived in China (where piano is taught much differently) all three of the kids have been her students over the past 16 years and while they have all gone off to university now, their time with Cheryl has left a lasting and positive influence. From the individual lessons (even over Covid via FaceTime ) to her twice yearly concerts, Cheryl has been an exceptional teacher and mentor for our children. As our time with her has now past, I hope her new crop of students will appreciate her as much as we do. Good luck finding a better teacher."

“Started my boys playing piano when they were both 4 1/2 years old. Now many years later when asking the boys if they would like to take piano with Mrs. Jones again, the answer is always, “Yes”. This is a testament to Cheryl’s teaching ability as she makes learning fun. She loves to teach and it shows.”

— B. McCooeye, Carleton Place

“Cheryl Jones is enthusiastic about music. She has taught piano to four of children over several years. At each lesson Cheryl is able to find something they have done well. She shows them how to improve their playing with lots of encouragement.Cheryl is able to match pieces to each child’s favorite piano style and level. They leave their lessons smiling and motivated even when they arrive discouraged. Her studio classes are one of the excellent extras that Cheryl adds to her regular lessons. Here they learn about composers and perform their pieces for their peers and more. When my children have chosen to take RCM exams Cheryl prepares them well technically and gives them confidence to do well. She inspires her students to be enthusiastic about music, which is a life long gift.”

“Cheryl has been a very influential person in our lives. She is trustworthy, inspirational, and skilled. We have always found that Cheryl was a person we could confide in.

We have been taking piano lessons with Cheryl for almost 10 years and have gotten to know that she is one of the most patient, kind, and genuine people we know. Cheryl cares for her students and is always very encouraging, especially when playing a frustrating song. Cheryl has hosted beautiful piano recitals that provide students with a chance to master a piece and gain confidence in front of their peers while demonstrating their success to their parents. At end-of-year recitals, she highlights all students’ accomplishments and presents various awards, praising their hard work throughout the year. She keeps her students engaged and motivated to work toward a goal. Overall, Cheryl is an amazing teacher and wonderful person who genuinely cares about each student’s development. She devotes her time to teaching music to students as well as using music therapy to help individuals affected by brain trauma. We are very grateful to have a teacher like Cheryl in our lives.”
